NTT DoCoMo Tests Automated Japanese-English Translation Service

If there is one thing the Japanese are scared the most, it would be having to speak in English, but that would be a thing of the past soon. Japan’s leading carrier NTT DoCoMo is developing a translation tool that can be access in smartphones.
The service analyzes your spoken work in Japanese or English, then translates it by on-screen and audible translation. It even works in close-to-real time, in which the device translates your call immediately after speaking. This translation tool would make conversing between people speaking in different languages more convenient without the need for a human translator.
NTT claims the tool’s success rate is between 80 and 90 percent and it has started testing the service with around 400 users.
