Asus unveils Tablet 600, world’s first commercial Windows 8 RT device

Before we get carried away with Transforming Intel powered tablets and AIOs, let’s not forget that Asus still had some ARM related goodness in today’s COMPUTEX presser. The Taiwanese company unveiled their Tablet 600, which according to the company, is the world’s first Windwos 8 RT device. The Tablet 600 is powered by NVIDIA’s Tegra 3 processor and has GeForce graphics inside. Unsurprisingly, the device comes with its own dock, which we guess would work just like the other tablet docks in their Transformer line.



The device sports a 10.1-inch Super IPS+ panel, as well as a 8-megapixel camera on the back. Asus also says that the Tablet 600 has their SonicMaster audio technology embedded, so it’s not a stretch to assume that this particular device will have awesome sound to go with its fast performance. No price or availability for the Philippines have been set, unfortunately, but we do have a nice video of the device in action courtesy of NVIDIA. Check it out below.

Asus PadFone first Impressions

We’ve talked about the PadFone before, but we’ve only had the opportunity to get our eyes on and handle the product today, at COMPUTEX. On the whole, the phone part of the PadFone feels extremely solid, and the screen looks bright and crisp. The 4.3-inch Super AMOLED screen of the PadFone looks fantastic, and the overall build quality of the device is top-notch.



To use the device as a tablet, you need to dock the phone to the tablet part of the PadFone, which is done by lifting the lid on the back of the 10.1-inch (1280 x 800) capacitive multi-touch screen.



After connecting the PadFone to the tablet dock, the tablet display lights up, and you’re able to use it as a tablet. The PadFone uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 8260A Dual-Core 1.5 GHz processor which provides a quick and snappy user experience.



There’s also a keyboard dock accessory available, which to be honest looks and feels like the other, detachable keyboard docks in the Transformer line. The device uses Android 4.0 (ICS) and each peripheral that it attaches to (the tablet and the keyboard dock) provides additional battery power to give you longer battery endurance.
Unfortunately, there’s still no word when this particular device will be available the Philippines – the device is still in short supply and there’s rumors circulating that it’s one of the products that are suffering from the rumored Qualcomm S4 processor shortage.

Asus PadFone priced in Taiwan – $610 for phone, $850 for the phone and tablet plus stylus

While we’re waiting for the official release of the Asus PadFone here in our shores, the revolutionary smartphone/tablet device has already launched today in Asus’ homeland, Taiwan. So how much will Taiwanese citizens be ponying up for Asus’ transformagical device? Well, you can expect to pay about NT$17,990 or about $610 (Php 25,985) for just the dual-core 1.5GHz processor powered phone, NT$24,980 or about $850 (Php 36,082) for the phone, tablet dock and stylus and about NT$28,901 or about $980 (Php 41,745) for the phone, tablet dock, stylus and keyboard. Take note that this isn’t the final price of the device when it hits our shores, as we still have taxes and other things to account for. The device will be going on sale on April 20th, so if you’re planning a trip to Taiwan soon, you might want to pick one up.

Asus CEO Teases New Tablet Ahead of Release

In a move that caught the technophiles by surprise, Asus CEO Jonney Shih revealed its “next-generation Transformer tablet” during a forum at AsiaD, which will be called “Transformer Prime.”
According to Shih, the new tablet comes with a quad-core NVIDIA processor, 10-inch screen, mini-HDMI port, SD card slot, a side profile of 8.3 millimeters, a battery life of 14.5 hours, and a top lid that appears similar to its Zenbook line. It will naturally ship with Android, most likely Honeycomb but may as well have an over-the-air Ice Cream Sandwich update.
The Asus Transformer Prime tablet will be officially revealed on November 9. That is when we hear about its availability and price.

Asus Tough ETBW11AA Tablet Lands In Japan

Asus has recently made a rugged tablet device in the Japanese market. Called as the Asus Tough ETBW11AA Tablet, this new and rugged tablet is aimed primarily for business use. This new tablet is set to offer a number of features that would make it ideal for use by business executives and professionals.

The new Asus Tough-ETBW11AA Tablet features a 1GHz Tegra 2 dual core processor, 16GB memory and support for a microSD card. It runs on the Android 3.2 OS and comes with a 5MP camera. Aside from having WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS support, the Asus Tough-ETBW11AA Business Tablet also is WiMAX ready.

But what may appeal to some users is that the Asus Tough Tablet is built to last. This 7-inch tablet is built to resist dust and water as well as the occasional accidental drops. This rugged tablet can withstand accidental drops of up to 76cm high and can be used inside the shower or even in deserts, if ever business professionals end up getting into such places. The Asus Tough-ETBW11AA Business Tablet is expected to be available at Japanese telecom KDDI sometime in November. Pricing details have yet to be provided.
