Motorola Razr goes on sale in UK

motorola's super-thin Razr has finally landed, giving us the option of a KEVLAR protected 7.1mm smartphone with Android Gingerbread

The Motorola Razr is now out in the UK with customers able to get their hands on the super-thin smartphone from Carphone Warehouse, Phones4u and from Amazon direct if you prefer your phones SIM-free.

With both the Carphone Warehouse and Phones4u offering the phone on contract at around £31 the Razr is definitely one of the higher end smartphones available at the moment. However if you'd rather you had the choice of any network Amazon now have the Motorola Razr in stock selling it at £448.99 putting it price-wise alongside the Samsung Galaxy S2 and the upcoming Galaxy Nexus.

Offering up a 7.1mm thin body the alluminium-clad Razr also gives you Android Gingerbread inside while the 1.2GHz processor makes sure that everything then runs smoothly. Motorola has also placed actual KEVLAR on the back so should you be around any shootouts feat not, the Razr will probably survive. In case that's just not sturdy enough it also has Corning Gorilla Glass on the screen as well, how's that for 'life-proof'.

Motorola Unveils Two Xoom 2 Tablets

After months of teasing and speculating, Motorola has officially unveiled the Xoom 2 and Xoom 2 Media Edition tablets.
Both tablets are almost similar in design. The two devices feature a 1.2GHz dual-core processors, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. The tablets run Android 3.2, much to the dismay of Ice Cream Sandwich fans, and come with a suite of Google apps.
The differences, meanwhile, are quite few. The Xoom 2 comes with a 10.1-inch HD touchscreen with Gorilla Glass, a “splash guard” for those who like playing Angry Birds pool side, and up to 10 hours of battery life. On the other hand, the Xoom 2 Media Edition is smaller with its 8.2-inch display, MotoCAST remote media streaming service, and about six hours of battery life.
The Motorola Xoom 2 will be released in United Kingdom and Ireland in “mid-November,” with a rumored cost of 399.90 euros (about US$522). No word yet on whether these tablets will reach the Americas.

Motorola Droid RAZR is only 7.1 mm thick

New flagship smartphone from Motorola was given "RAZR" name remembering very thing older models they were making years ago. The thickness of the device does not exceed 7.1 mm.

To ensure necessary body toughness they made its body of steel. The rear is reinforced with Kevlar fibers, and the screen is protected by tempered Corning Gorilla Glass.

Droid RAZR also features Super AMOLED display which has a 4.3 " diagonal and qHD resolution (540 x 960 pixels).

It is based on a dual-core processor, clocked at 1.2 GHz running Google Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread). The configuration includes 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB of flash memory, 1.3 MP front camera and 8 rear camera with LED flash and can shoot full HD video. You can expand the memory with a microSD cards (a 16 GB one will be included in the kit). In addition it features 4G LTE support (as modified for the U.S.), aGPS and eCompass, wireless interfaces Wi-Fi 802.11 b / g / n and Bluetooth 4.0, HDMI and USB 2.0. Battery has 1780 mAh capacity. The device is compatible with Motorola Lapdock 500 Pro and Lapdock 100 docking stations.

Deliveries of new Motorola Droid RAZR will begin in November. Price in the U.S. with a two year contract will be $ 299.

Motorola Z-Wave Monitoring Service Comes to Verizon Broadband

Verizon broadband subscribers can enjoy the power of controlling their homes while they are away by adding Motorola’s Z-Wave-based 4Home automation system in their existing packing. For a monthly fee of $10, users can monitor their home through wireless cameras, unlock doors for family and guests, and adjust the thermostat all through a web-connected tablet or smartphone. The basic Home Monitoring Kit will cost you $70, which includes a wireless camera and a single light control. Meanwhile, the Energy Control Kit ditches the wireless camera for a thermostat and energy reader for $170. If you want all of the above, get the Home Monitoring and Control Kit for $220. Additional cameras, as well as door locks and window sensors, are sold individually.

Sprint comes out with its latest Android-powered smartphone: The Motorola Photon, which will begin its retail rounds on July 31.
The Sprint Photon features a 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2 processor, 4.3-inch HD display with 960 x 540 resolution, Android 2.3, 8-megapixel back-facing camera, a VGA front-facing camera, 16GB onboard memory, a 32GB microSD card slot, and a kickstand just to make it fancy. Aside from the usual Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity, this smartphone is considered as Sprint’s first “global” WiMax phone. It runs on Sprint’s 3G and WiMax in the US, but it also functions on international GSM standards.
The Motorola Photon will be offered for $200 with a two-year contract with Sprint. Pretty reasonable if you ask me.
